Registered Patent Attorney

Nick Guinn doesn't just practice intellectual property law—he lives it. As a seasoned IP litigator and prosecutor, Nick approaches each client's challenge with the precision of his chemical engineering background and the strategic insight gained from his federal clerkship with Chief Judge Fred Biery.

"I see myself as more than just legal counsel," says Nick. "I'm a problem-solver who translates complex IP issues into practical business solutions."

Nick's practice spans the full spectrum of intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on high-stakes litigation and trademark proceedings before the USPTO's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Clients value his ability to craft strategies that reflect their unique business realities while remaining grounded in marketplace trends and industry standards.

Beyond his thriving practice, Nick's commitment to IP law extends to the classroom, where he teaches the next generation of attorneys as an adjunct professor. He's authored several books and numerous articles on trademark and copyright topics and regularly shares his expertise through speaking engagements nationwide.

As president-elect of the San Antonio Bar Association and former officer of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, Nick maintains deep connections within the legal community that benefit his clients daily. His leadership roles in the International Trademark Association and the State Bar of Texas IP Section further demonstrate his dedication to advancing intellectual property law and best practices. His previous leadership as president of the St. Mary's University Student Bar Association and vice chair of the ABA Law Student Division showcases his long-standing commitment to the profession.

Nick balances his professional pursuits with meaningful community involvement, including volunteer work with KLRN public television and Christian Assistance Ministries. At his church, he teaches Sunday school, coaches high school basketball, and coordinates with global missionary efforts. When time permits, he and his wife enjoy traveling to France, where his fascination with wine culture and terroir reflects the same attention to detail and appreciation for craftsmanship that he brings to his IP practice.
